  • About | Growing Pains Student Podcast

Welcome to the Growing Pains Student Podcast! We're an essay-based show where students share what's on their minds. Each episode is a collection of student essays, read by their writers or members of our team. The idea is to crowdsource nuggets of wisdom, inspire and be inspired, create a global capsule of the thoughts and voices of our generation, and make friends along the way! We're so happy to have you with us, The Growing Pains Team “In later life we look at things in a more practical way, in full conformity with the rest of society, but adolescence is the only period in which we learn anything.” - Marcel Proust, In Search of Lost Time Volume II: Within a Budding Grove Meet the Growing Pains Team Founder and Creative Director Mido Luo Hi, I'm Mido, a second-year science student at UBC. I love reading and writing about the human experience. Outside of Growing Pains, I'm aspiring towards a retired lifestyle of cooking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. I'd love to hear your story, so please don't hesitate to reach out :D Host Magdalene Lim Hello! My name is Magdalene and I am a student at UBC studying the life sciences. I really enjoy the sciences but I have always had a passion for the arts, whether that be dance or essays. Outside of school, I like to explore the city with my friends (mostly through food) and watch random assortments of shows and movies. Marketing Director Annalise Wall Annalise Wall is a writer and second year student at Sarah Lawrence College, where she studies English Literature and Creative Writing, among other more eclectic things. When not writing, Annalise can be found reading two or more books at a time, usually something either very melancholic or a little silly. Media Co-Director Termeh Tabrizi Hi! I'm Termeh, a 2nd year commerce student and super curious person. I have endless questions, especially about cars… and modifying them! One thing I never question is cooking and my ability to know just how much of an ingredient is enough (basically my ancestors watching over me and stopping me from making foods too salty). Media Co-Director Charity Grey Charity is a second year student studying combined major in biology and computer science. She likes to draw small doodles and store them as her own gifs, reactions, and stickers to send when texting friends! (Friend here: can confirm :D) Sound Engineering Lead Harper Kim Harper is a second-year computer science student at UBC who loves producing electronica music and learning about audio engineering. Outside of school, he can be found building small software applications or working on his songs. Following his interests in technology and audio, he hopes to pursue a minor in music technology.
